Rachad A. Medawar is a Founding Partner at Obeid and Medawar Law Firm (O&M), established in Beirut in year 2007. Born in 1974, Rachad is a member of the Beirut Bar Association (Syndicate of Lawyers) since 1997.

He obtained a Masters’ degree in Law from Université Saint Joseph of Beirut in year 1996. He then pursued his post graduate studies at Université de Paris I- Panthéon-Sorbonne, France- obtaining a DEA degree in International Private Law and International Commercial Law in year 1997. He also pursued a PHD degree in International Private Law before the same renowned institution. Rachad’s breadth of experience spans from offering long and short-term consultancies to legal advice on civil, corporate, commercial, transportation, shipping, banking, labor, finance, insurance law, family law as well as on a multitude of other subjects.

He has particular expertise in comparative, international, financial, investment, real estate, construction, mergers and tax law, and in the resolution of disputes before all Lebanese Courts of various jurisdictions and levels and through local institutional and ad-hoc and international arbitration panels or forums constituted under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, whereby he acted both as Lead Counsel and as arbitrator. He represents a number of leading banks, insurance companies, private funds and multinational companies in Lebanon and the region as well as high net worth individuals.

Rachad is a Lecturer at Université Saint Joseph de Beyrouth since the year 2000 on the subjects of Business Law, Labor Law and Comparative Social Security Law. He is also member of the Disciplinary Council of the same institution.

Between the years 1998 and 2000 he was a lecturer at the faculty of Law at the Lebanese University in the subject of Special Contracts and Commercial Law.

Prior to co-founding O&M, Rachad was extensively involved in the preparation and treatment of various cases at Assha & El Khoury Law Firm, where he was a Senior Associate from 2001 until 2007.

Rachad debuted his career at Ibrahim Najjar Law Firm where he was a Junior Associate between the years 1997 and 2001.

Since 2004, Rachad is the Vice President of Rayfoun Municipality, in Kesrouan area, Lebanon.

He is multilingual (Arabic, English and French) and is co-author of “Doing Business Report” since 2007 until present, published by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
